Wiehre, one of the city's most desirable residential areas, offers a unique blend of Baden cuisine, French savoir-vivre and Italian barista culture. This charming neighborhood is known for its relaxed atmosphere and proximity to various culinary experiences. A stroll through the Wiehre is like a culinary journey through Europe, where you can experience ristretto, tapas and boules all in one neighborhood. Regardless of the time of year, whether in January or July, April or October, the Wiehre is always worth a visit. The relaxed atmosphere and variety of culinary offerings make this district an essential stop on any itinerary.
From Martinstor (Martin's Gate), walk straight ahead to the Kaiserbrücke bridge, then turn right down to the Dreisam and along the riverbank to the Luisensteg, which leads across to Schillerstrasse and Turnseestrasse. Once you have crossed the water and the main traffic axis, the noise of the city becomes quieter with every step and the buildings become steadily less dense. At the Turnsee/Talstraße junction, the view opens up to the right of St. John's Catholic Church, whose sandstone towers rise 60 meters into the air. Just a few hundred meters further along the road, the evangelical church of Christ is much smaller, but also worth seeing, especially inside. With a bit of luck, you can listen to church music as you pass by. Continue along Turnseestrasse to Erwinstrasse, where various shop windows, Italian delicacies and the art café "Artjamming" await. Just cross Günterstalstraße, with its stores and craft businesses, to dive back into the silence away from the bustling traffic and discover the graffiti house. At the crossroads, turn left into Kirchstraße, where you will also find a few open doors to stop for a bite to eat. Alternatively, benches on Annaplatz invite you to simply soak up the atmosphere. If you want something bigger and even greener, turn left at the end of Kirchstrasse into Lorettostrasse - and cross Günterstalstrasse to reach Urachstrasse.Continue straight ahead on soft sandy paths until you reach the old Wiehre railway station, which is just as ideal for a break as the iconic Kaffee-Kiste - an outdoor café with a number of specialties - a few hundred meters further on, on the corner of Dreikönig-/Peter-Sprung-Straße. Or Förster Max, an ice cream parlor that is a revelation for lovers of exotic flavors. On the corner of Zasiusstrasse and Dreikönigstrasse, an old cemetery is hidden on a hill, modestly shrouding the historical significance of this place in silence. Today, children play here, the times of the Baden Revolution have given way to soulful peace. But this is just a side note, the route continues straight ahead for a good while along Zasiusstraße, which is known for its typical Wiehre architecture. For the final stage, the route turns left into Brombergstraße, makes a right at Talstraße and turns left again into Uhlandstraße. Then climb back down to the riverside path via the Mariensteg and, last but not least, let your feet dangle over the water on the Dreisam swing before returning to the city.

If you want to extend the walk to an excursion, walk from the Holbeinstraße stop to Günterstal or into the Sternwald forest to the Wasserschlössle (water castle).
