A dream area for hiking extends right outside the gates of Freiburg. ZweiTälerLand begins 15 kilometres north of the city and owes its name to the close connection between Elztal and Simonswäldertal. Together, the two have over 800 kilometres of hiking trails - and a difference in altitude of up to 1000 metres. The giant in ZweiTälerLand is the Kandel near Waldkirch; at 1241 metres, it is the highest mountain in the central Black Forest - and is also shrouded in many legends. Its summit is also a stage destination on one of the most beautiful tours through the region: the ZweiTälerSteig is a 100-kilometre circular trail that also leads to the picturesque Zweribach waterfalls, pilgrimage chapels and fascinatingly beautiful viewpoints. The choice of excursion destinations in ZweiTälerLand is huge.
