Freiburg dances: the most iconic spots

On warm summer evenings, people in Freiburg meet to dance in an unusual place: in a fountain basin near the cafeteria. This was the only thing left of the former fountain after it was destroyed in the Second World War, so the people of Freiburg quickly repurposed it. Every evening there is a different style of dance on the city's most beautiful open-air dance stage, from salsa to tango or lindy-hop. And the Tanzbrunnen is not Freiburg's only cult spot for dancing: The lively tango community regularly organises milongas, and there are often spontaneous hip-hop sessions at the bus station. Theater Freiburg and the E-Werk event rooms cultural centre not only have their own dance section; both institutions also regularly bring people of all ages to dance in workshops.

Whether at the FREI ART FESTIVAL at the beginning of May or at the Zelt-Musik-Festival in July and August, on the stages of Theater Freiburg, the E-Werk event rooms or in the ballroom: Freiburg has many stages to see the work of internationally acclaimed choreographers and dancers - or to dance yourself.
