The best way to discover Freiburg is by bike. Parking is no problem, the distances are short and the cycle paths are well developed. Cyclists can even ride under a solar roof on a 300 metre section near the exhibition centre: a pioneering Green City project throughout Germany that covers the annual electricity consumption of a good 180 people. If you don't have your own bike with you, you can easily hire one using the Frelo bike hire system. For those who don't want to pedal, Freiburg's five tram lines are a practical alternative. And if you want to get further out into the surrounding area, hop on one of the Regio-Verband Freiburg trains at the railway station. You prefer the car? The city offers various car-sharing options and a good network of charging stations for electric cars.
