Route description

This walk is about perceiving different plant species with all your senses. Smelling and feeling in particular relaxes the body and mind.

At Bertold's Fountain, take streetcar line 2 in the direction of Günterstal to the Holbeinstraße stop (journey time: approx. 10 minutes).
the city and the hustle and bustle behind you. After just a few minutes on the streetcar, you will be closer to nature - concentrate more and more on the trees and the increasing tranquillity.

At the Holbeinstraße stop, cross the crosswalk and continue on the sidewalk for approx. 30 meters parallel to the streetcar line. After approx. 30 meters, turn into the small footpath that leads
right into the gardens.

Walk as slowly as possible - take a close look at everything: the flowers in the gardens, the plants and trees around you.

Smell the plants, touch them carefully and observe the different structures and shapes of the leaves.

The next fork in the road is a good moment to pause:
Look around you and let your body and mind come to rest, consciously take in everything. What do you feel? What are you thinking?

Now turn right and walk straight ahead to the end. Take your time, breathe in and out deeply and listen to the babbling of the small stream to your right. Can you hear the birds singing?
Can you perhaps spot some vegetables? Do you notice the many colors of the plants? Perhaps the trees are also bearing fruit?
Stop wherever you like and smell the flowers and bushes, close your eyes or stretch as you feel good. Listen to the crunching of the gravel path under your feet. Is it pleasant and calming?

At the end, the path becomes narrower and leads into a left-hand bend, after which you continue straight ahead to the next crossroads. Take it all in and breathe in and out deeply. Isn't it nice to immerse yourself in these peaceful surroundings?

At the crossroads, turn right and at the end of the path, in front of a stream, continue left until you reach a small paved road. If you like, you can refresh your body and face in the stream!
Take your time and relax, take everything in very carefully. Have you already found a pleasant sense of calm?

Now cross the road and take the path up to the dam. Find a free bench here and let your gaze wander over the meadows.

Concentrate intensely on your senses once again. What do you see? What do you hear? What do you feel?
You can get back to the city by streetcar: just walk left to the Wonnhalde stop.

Or:

You can also continue with the next mindfulness walk: The "Zum Kloster St. Lioba" route starts right here, on the embankment!

What thoughts or feelings arose in you during this mindfulness walk?

  • Author's tip:

Order: It doesn't matter which of the mindfulness walks you do first. The only exception: If you decide to do walks 3 and 4, you should start with number 3.

Rest: It is advisable to take the walk alone. If possible, avoid using your cell phone and anything else that could distract you.

Route: It is best to always read each section straight through to the end. This way you can clearly see the route and concentrate fully on your sensory impressions as you walk.

Reminders: Perhaps you would like to collect an object of power from nature (stone, pine cone, branch, etc.) and take it home with you? And at the end of each walk, you can write down how you felt when you were out and about in nature.

Aim: During the mindfulness walks, you should concentrate fully on the moment - and recharge your batteries as a result.

Important: You can't do anything wrong. If you don't always succeed with the exercises, that's not a problem. Everything happens at your own pace and according to your needs.
