Route description

This walk is about consciously pausing and walking slowly. This will give you a pleasant sense of calm.

At Bertold's Fountain, take streetcar line 2 in the direction of Günterstal to the Wonnhalde stop (journey time: approx. 10 minutes). Lean back and relax in your seat during the journey and leave the
the city and the hustle and bustle behind you. After just a few minutes on the streetcar, you will be closer to nature - concentrate more and more on the trees and the increasing tranquillity.

Cross the road and walk up the small embankment on the left. Choose a bench for a short break, sit comfortably and pause for a moment. Look around you and let your body and mind come to rest. Be aware of everything. Let your gaze wander into the distance, over the mountains and up to the sky. What do you feel? What are you thinking? Now take a deep breath in and out; from now on, concentrate completely on the moment.

Walk along the entire protective dam. A small stream now babbles in front of you, with the forest house (WaldHaus) on the right. Turn left and follow the path straight ahead along the edge of the forest until you reach the road. After just a few meters, a small wooden bridge leads over the stream - look at the flowing water of the stream and listen to the splashing.

Find a bench and sit down comfortably with your back straight. Lower your gaze and give your body your full attention: feel every single part of your body. Start with your feet and then move your thoughts up your body to your legs, pelvis, stomach, back and then to your neck and head. Repeat this exercise twice, paying attention to tensions and blockages. Breathe deeply in and out of your abdomen, bringing positive energy to all areas of your body through your fresh and calm breath. The place where you are right now
is very peaceful: it gives you strength. Feel the connection with yourself and nature. Stay for a few minutes.

You can also close your eyes and give your eyes a relaxation exercise: Gently stroke your eyelids with your fingertips, from the nose outwards. Repeat this exercise a few times. Now massage your face too - using your fingertips in circular movements. Breathe in and out deeply into your stomach.

Then continue to the street, walking carefully and slowly. Can you feel the cool air by the stream next to you? Do you perhaps notice that you are placing the soles of your feet more consciously?
At the road, a small wooden bridge crosses the stream on the right - another good place to lean on the railing and pause for a moment.

Then cross the road and walk to the right along the footpath to the Wiesenweg bus stop. After the stop, turn left into Wiesenweg and after a few meters you will reach the St. Lioba monastery.

Below the monastery, in front of the small monastery store, there is a large field of flowers. Take your time and explore it with all your senses. The gate to the monastery garden on the left-hand side of the monastery store may even be open: Here you will find lots of flowers and herbs as well as a small pond. Enjoy the tranquillity of this magical place.

Afterwards, the streetcar will take you back to the city - invigorated by the fresh air and peaceful surroundings.

  • Author's tip:

Order: It doesn't matter which of the mindfulness walks you do first. The only exception: If you decide to do walks 3 and 4, you should start with number 3.

Rest: It is advisable to take the walk alone. If possible, avoid using your cell phone and anything else that could distract you.

Route: It is best to always read each section straight through to the end. This way you can clearly see the route and concentrate fully on your sensory impressions as you walk.

Reminders: Perhaps you would like to collect an object of power from nature (stone, pine cone, branch, etc.) and take it home with you? And at the end of each walk, you can write down how you felt when you were out and about in nature.

Aim: During the mindfulness walks, you should concentrate fully on the moment - and recharge your batteries as a result.

Important: You can't do anything wrong. If you don't always succeed with the exercises, that's not a problem. Everything happens at your own pace and according to your needs.
