From the Stadtgarten, this mindful path leads you over the Mozartsteg and through shady forests with impressive redwood trees up to the Schlossberg Hill, where you arrive at yourself step by step. At the top, resting places with sweeping views across Freiburg to the Vosges mountains await you, as well as a conscious breathing break in the Kommandantengarten, which brings body and mind back into harmony.
This walk is all about feeling your surroundings and concentrating on your body and breathing.
It starts at the Schlossbergbahn funicular in the Stadtgarten. This route first takes you over a small bridge (Mozartsteg) and then immediately left up many steps to the Schlossberg Hill.
Pay attention to your feet as you climb and let go of your thoughts; concentrate more and more on the present moment.
turn right and then left at the next path. Follow it in several bends until you reach the terminus of the Schlossbergbahn (funicular). As along the stairs, you will see giant trees lining the path,
redwoods, line your path.
At the top of the Schlossbergbahn (funicular), take a moment to relax and look out over the city. Leave everyday life far behind you! At the signpost, continue straight ahead
up through the forest towards the Kommandantengarten. After a while, you will see the Tusculum - a family residence from the early 20th century. At the next junction
take a small forest path to the right (signposted hiking trail) to the Kommandantengarten.
Find a comfortable spot here on a wall or bench and sit cross-legged in an upright position. Close your eyes and concentrate on your breathing: breathe in and out slowly and deeply. Let your thoughts come and go - everything you think and feel is okay.
Pay attention to your feelings and your body. Are you relaxed or restless? Try to become calmer and calmer and keep your eyes closed for several minutes, focusing on your inner self. What feelings do you perceive in your body?
Then concentrate on the sounds of the city. What can you perceive? Let your gaze wander over the city to the peaks of the Vosges mountains and further up to the sky.
How does that feel? Do you recognize the vastness? Perhaps your thoughts will also expand - take time for new positive thoughts!
When you feel invigorated and balanced, take a different route back to the city: follow the signpost to the Schlossbergbahn (funicular) mountain station. Feel your surroundings with all your senses on the way back and stay mindful.

Order: It doesn't matter which of the mindfulness walks you do first. The only exception: If you decide to do walks 3 and 4, you should start with number 3.
Rest: It is advisable to take the walk alone. If possible, avoid using your cell phone and anything else that could distract you.
Route: It is best to always read each section straight through to the end. This way you can clearly see the route and concentrate fully on your sensory impressions as you walk.
Reminders: Perhaps you would like to collect an object of power from nature (stone, pine cone, branch, etc.) and take it home with you? And at the end of each walk, you can write down how you felt when you were out and about in nature.
Aim: During the mindfulness walks, you should concentrate fully on the moment - and recharge your batteries as a result.
Important: You can't do anything wrong. If you don't always succeed with the exercises, that's not a problem. Everything happens at your own pace and according to your needs.
