Dreisam River

The Dreisam River is much more than just the river that feeds the Bächle (gutters), it is pure nature right in the city and in the immediate vicinity. Its clear waters and lush green meadows are a health and recreational area as well as a place to catch your breath. Here, the hustle and bustle of the city seems far away and the world around you forgotten.

Freiburg's lifeline attracts families, friends, couples and retirees alike to soak up the sun, take a refreshing dip in the cool water or chill your beer after work.

If you want to experience Freiburg as authentically as possible, you should spend a little time at the Dreisam River. Whether you cycle by bike, that you can rent at the Radstation (Bike Station) for example, along the river to the west or walk through the Schwabentor (Swabian gate) to the east - that's up to you.

No matter which way you choose: Within a few minutes you will forget the city life and enjoy the idyllic landscape -  including a wonderful view of the Black Forest, of course.  Have fun!
