The scooter trail on the Schauinsland combines athletic activity with stunning natural scenery. After taking the Schauinslandbahn up the mountain, the adventure begins at an altitude of about 1,220 meters: Riding off-road downhill scooters, you’ll make your way back down into the valley along a route that’s about eight kilometers long. The route winds through dense mixed forests and the nature reserve of Freiburg’s local mountain. Time and again, breathtaking views open up over the Rhine Valley all the way to the Kaiserstuhl and the Vosges Mountains—a special highlight for anyone looking to combine physical activity with a nature experience. The route is clearly marked and divided into several sections. Thanks to a safety briefing and the protective gear provided, this activity is suitable for both beginners and experienced participants. With an elevation gain of about 750 meters and a ride time of roughly one hour, the descent is an intense but very manageable experience. The scooter trail is especially popular with groups, families with older children, and outdoor enthusiasts who want to explore the Black Forest in an unusual way.
