Schauinslandbahn - Freiburg-Horben
The Schauinslandbahn surmounts a height difference of 746 m at 3,600 m in length. It was commissioned in 1930 as the world's first passenger cable car according to the circulation principle. The Schauinsland mountain is 1,284 m high.

You can reach the summit and summit tower in 10 minutes from the valley station behind Günterstal (accessible by bus and tram from FR center). The view from the gondola of the Schauinslandbahn stretches across the Rhine valley, the vineyards of Tuniberg and Kaiserstuhl to the Vosges Mountains. From the summit, you can see the Feldberg, the spectacular Upper Black Forest and all the way to the Alps.
The Schauinsland is an ideal recreational area for hiking, biking, Nordic walking, para gliding and winter sports. Other highlights include Europe's longest scooter track, the mining museum (Museums-Bergwerk Schauinsland) and the farmhouse museum (Bauernhausmuseum Schniederlihof). Cozy inns invite you to stop in for a bite to eat. Hover well!
Note on accessibility: The Schauinslandbahn is wheelchair-accessible. The stepless summit circular path is paved, but has considerable inclines in many places.
