Tension in the jury courtroom: Marc Hofmann reads from “The Math Teacher and Death”
Marc Hofmann , a teacher, author, and cabaret artist from Freiburg, reads from *The Math Teacher and Death*, the first installment in the humorous mystery series featuring high school teacher Gregor Horvath.
One morning in the schoolyard, Gregor Horvath nearly stumbles over the body of a colleague: Math teacher Michael Menzel has apparently fallen out of a window. The police assume it was suicide, but Horvath has his doubts. As a self-proclaimed Hercule Poirot fan, Horvath has no choice but to conduct his own investigation. With the help of a few students from his German class and Martin’s mysterious new assistant, Betty, he begins to dig into the case. After all, there are plenty of suspects at a school: teachers, students, parents… But Horvath had better not get too close to the real culprit!
With subtle humor and genuine insider knowledge, Marc Hofmann—himself a teacher at a high school in Freiburg—lets the charming and eccentric German teacher Gregor Horvath solve his first case. Between chapters, he plays “Murder Ballads” byJohnny Cash, Wolfgang Ambros, and others.
