New Translation: Timothée de Fombelle and Karine Tuil—Freiburg Proof with Tobias Scheffel and Maja Ueberle-Pfaff

Two translations whose originals were met with great enthusiasm in France, two translators from Freiburg who have both been familiar with “their” respective authors for many years: While *The Life We Will Never Have* (dtv, 2026) by Timothée de Fombelle—the story of an escape into the mind during the Resistance—is praised for its “dazzling beauty” (Le Figaro), *The Love-Hungry* (dtv, 2026) captivates readers with its analytical sharpness and “a healthy dose of malice” (SZ), with which Karine Tuil depicts the tightrope walk between triumph and loss among France’s political and artistic elite.
