Kaiserstuhl Percussion - "Just Can't Get Enough": Essential Depeche Mode on Percussion
The British synth-pop band Depeche Mode is one of the most successful bands in the world. During their first wave of international success on the “Some Great Reward Tour,” they performed in Freiburg for the first and only time in 1984.
“Back then, I really wanted to go to the concert at the Freiburg Stadthalle, but unfortunately, because I was so young, it remained just a dream. Forty years later, I’m rediscovering the songs by Martin L. Gore and his bandmates and diving deep into them,” says Friedemann Stert, director of the Kaiserstuhl Percussion ensemble. A whole series of new arrangements has been created, which impressively combine this electronic music with the purely acoustic sounds of mallets, thus going beyond the sound of a mere cover band. That said, synthesizer sounds aren’t entirely abandoned. Their pads and interludes are redefined and adapted to each arrangement.
Selected Depeche Mode classics are thus transformed into an exciting new soundscape that particularly highlights the quality of the songs.
