Dominique Fils-Aimé - Live 2026
Ah, the paths we take. The impulses that drive us, whether ambition or boredom. Where are we headed? What’s next? Dominique captures this searching, wandering feeling in her new single, “Going Home.” Dominique’s lyrics are characterized by a free, associative style of writing. No matter where she ends up—even when she’s “going nowhere, going broke, going rogue”—a fundamental optimism remains. In the end, she’s “still going strong.” This attitude runs through much of her work. As a singer, Dominique has a keen sense of how to convey her messages subtly. With style and ease, she breathes new life into every piece of music and takes a song to a new, unexpected place. “Going Home” opens a new chapter. The single heralds the second album of her second trilogy, “My World Is The Sun,” which will be released on February 20, 2026, on Ensoul Records.
Montreal-based two-time JUNO Award winner Dominique Fils-Aimé is known for her warm, expressive voice and her socially conscious lyrics. Her music spans jazz, soul, and blues, blending elements of African American music with modern, personal influences. Dominique works in musical trilogies, with each album chronicling a chapter of her artistic and personal development. Her first trilogy was inspired by artists such as Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, and Etta James and shed light on various aspects of African American music history.
The first album, *Nameless* (2018), with its bluesy tones, explored the themes of pain and the silence of the past. It was acclaimed internationally by hi-fi enthusiasts and led to two sold-out concerts at the Montreal International Jazz Festival. Her second album, *Stay Tuned!* (2019), was a musical call for change and won the 2020 JUNO Award for Vocal Jazz Album of the Year and the 2019 Félix Award for Best Jazz Album. It was also shortlisted for the Polaris Music Prize and named by CBC as one of the best Canadian albums of the year. With *Three Little Words* (2021), Dominique concluded the trilogy with an album about reconciliation, which also received widespread international acclaim. In 2023, she launched a new trilogy with the album *Our Roots Run Deep*, which has a more introspective and nature-inspired sound. The album won the 2024 JUNO Award and the 2024 Félix Award for Best Jazz Album. The music explores the theme of growth, with nature serving as a symbol of the connection between people.
The second installment in this series, *My World Is The Sun*, is set to be released in February 2026, preceded by the single “Going Home” (release date: November 20, 2025). In it, Dominique explores the essence of creative expression—with freedom, openness, and authenticity as central values. On stage, Dominique Fils-Aimé is known for her intense and atmospheric live performances. Her first live album, *Live at the Montreal International Jazz Festival* (2025), recorded on the festival’s main stage, impressively showcases her stage presence and close connection with her audience.
In recent years, she has also established herself internationally, with performances at Jazz à Vienne (as the opening act for Jamie Cullum), the North Sea Jazz Festival, the Jazzablanca Festival in Morocco, and the 2025 World Expo in Osaka, where she represented Canada. In the fall of 2025, she embarked on her first U.S. tour, with concerts at the Blue Note in New York, the Blue Note in Los Angeles, and the Monterey Jazz Festival. In 2026, Dominique Fils-Aimé will present her new album as part of a world tour, with concerts in Europe (including Paris and Brussels), at the Montreal International Jazz Festival, and once again in the U.S.
