ZEKE - www.zekeyou.com - from Seattle / USA, founders of the speed rock genre, true followers of the motto: Everything louder - Everything faster than anything else!
The band is on their way to filling Lemmy's boots and becoming a band like Motörhead that can draw not only metal, but hardcore and punk rock fans in the same crowd and make it a great show for all these musical tribes!
ZEKE have just played their killer set at Wacken Open Air - W:O:A, PunkrockHolidays Festival, Brutal Assault Festival, De Zwarte Cross Festival, as well as many sold out clubs on their European tour.
They deliver a real sense of dirty RnR assault in sound, stage actions and attitude and don't aim to please.
As long as there are bands like BLACK HEART PROPHET, Lemmy has every reason to look down from cloud 666 and grumble "those kids, hargh, hargh" into his beard. After all, the spirit of Ian Kilmister and his ilk lives on in the Freiburg trio's debut album, even if the lads around singer, guitarist and songwriter Christof "Lurchi" Hoff also cite AC/DC, Rose Tattoo, ZZ Top and Rory Gallagher as "godfathers". For me, however, the main influence on "To The Bone" is Motörhead. This starts with the heavily rock'n'roll-heavy sound, continues with the similarly creaky, whiskey-soaked (?) vocals and ends with the fleeting visual resemblance between Lurchi and Lemmy. Let 'Move The Mob', 'Origin Of Sin' and 'Chief Of The Bubble' blow through your ear canals and you'll understand what I mean.
