With his debut album "Mer Tan Itev" ("Behind Our House"), Tigran Tatevosyan has been nominated for the German Jazz Award 2025 as Newcomer:in of the Year.
In the world of jazz piano trios, creating a truly personal sound is an art in itself. Born in Armenia, Tigran rises to this challenge and emerges as an authentic storyteller with a new yet mature voice. Tigran has been living in Hamburg since 2020, where he was accepted into the Dr. Langner Jazz Master Program at the HfMT Hamburg. There he had the opportunity to learn from masters such as Vladyslav Sendecki and Florian Weber. He shared the stage with Bob Moses, Nils Landgren, China Moses and others.
Influenced by both the rich harmonic, rhythmic and melodic language of Armenian folk music and the contemporary energy of modern jazz, classically trained pianist Tigran Tatevosyan has spent years perfecting his own fusion of the two. On this journey, he has composed and mastered a collection of pieces that are brought to life on "Mer Tan Itev" (2024).
The delicate balance between soul and intellect is characteristic of Tigran's music, in which complexity gracefully supports simplicity. Tigran's album "Mer Ten Itev" offers a melodic and harmonic palette full of emotion, intricate yet groovy rhythms. The musical wizardry immerses the listener in a musical world that defies classification.
But no technical exhibitionism overshadows the essence and sincerity of Tigran's remarkable art, which he complements with a sympathetic and unpretentious presentation during live performances. His live band consists of Omar Rodriguez Calvo on bass and Amir Bresler on drums. Tigran has already played at major international festivals. His appearances include Jazz Baltica 2024 at Timmerndorfer Strand and the Jazz a la calle 2025 festival in Mercedes/Uruguay.
