The Slackers and Café Atlantik can now look back on many years of friendship and wonderful concerts together. With every show and every release, The Slackers prove that the New York Times is not wrong to describe them as "the sound of New York". We are looking forward to the return of the amiable New York sextet around Vic Ruggiero to Café Atlantik in Freiburg. They call their very own blend of ska, rocksteady, dub, R&B, reggae, soul, rock'n'roll, garage rock and 60s pop simply Jamaican rock'n'roll. Vic Ruggiero's characteristically raspy vocals with his pertinent New York accent meet a driving organ, grooving horn section and a sharp guitar. Their lyrical depth and musical breadth make the Slackers probably the most popular current ska band outside the genre.
