KI.KI: Play Me the Song of Death
We seem to be getting closer and closer to the dream of an earthly paradise—thanks to AI, robots, and algorithms.
More and more “tedious” tasks—such as mowing the lawn, driving, vacuuming, and writing—are being taken over by machines. And the best part is: just like us humans, they can learn.
By asking an AI, we can access information in a matter of seconds—information that seems important to us for understanding the world, or that we believe will give us a valuable edge over potential competitors.
But what if the machine only feeds us our own preferences—what we want to hear? What if it increasingly traps us in a bubble of our own making that shields us more and more from our surroundings and reality? Will what agents and language models will soon be capable of turn into a nightmare?
We, Theater 1098, explore these questions by looking back at the past: Just under 80 years ago, Isaac Asimov wrote the short story “A Liar.” We’re bringing this classic of science fiction literature to the stage.
