SWR Symphony Orchestra: School Concert "Fairy Tale Melodies"
Antonín Dvořák: "The Water Sprite," Symphonic Poem, Op. 107
SWR Symphony Orchestra | Kyrian Friedenberg, conductor | Ansgar Hufnagel, slam poet
Antonín Dvořák’s symphonic poem “The Water Sprite” tells a dark fairy-tale legend full of suspense and mysterious soundscapes. For this special concert project, host and slam poet Ansgar Hufnagel has written a contemporary adaptation of the fairy tale. It is complemented by texts written by young people during preparatory workshops. The concert brings together music, language, and new perspectives: the young people’s texts and the retold fairy tale merge with Dvořák’s music to create a multi-layered concert experience. Afterward, the work is performed in its entirety once more.
School concert for secondary schools, recommended for students in grade 5 and up
