Staying Safe While Having Fun—Panel Discussion on Event Safety in Freiburg
Closing Event: Having Fun Safely – How Freiburg Ensures Safety at Its Events
We cordially invite you to a panel discussion on September 15, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the University Library event room (1st floor).
Everyone who attends a large event wants to feel safe. But especially in cities like Freiburg, with its beautiful yet narrow old-town streets, large events pose an enormous challenge. What needs to be considered in advance for city festivals or other events? How do city authorities and emergency responders prepare? What does the scientific community have to say about this? And how can citizens prepare for large-scale events?
Panelists (in alphabetical order):
Armin Bohnert, Head of the Criminal Investigation Division at the Freiburg Police Headquarters
Eva Dinchel, Project Manager for FreiburgRESIST, Office for Digital Affairs and IT, Smart Innovations
Christian Emrich, Head of the Office for Fire and Disaster Protection
Bela Gurath, Freiburg festival organizer (including SeaYou)
Elisa Orrù, Senior Researcher, Max Planck Institute for the Study of Crime, Security, and Law / Center for Security and Society at the University campus Freiburg
