Seyda Kurt: *Zeit der Monster*—Reading and Discussion with Fabienne Imlinger as part of the *Girl, Woman, Other* series
The setting: a neighborhood. The time: the apocalypse. At least, that’s what more and more people believe, spurred on by a prophecy spreading like wildfire across the internet. Young Sanya roams through the wild, dilapidated neighborhood—where people stick together despite everything—with a pistol in her backpack—until she encounters a strange figure.
Following the highly acclaimed nonfiction books *Radical Tenderness* (2021) and *Hate* (2023), *Time of Monsters* (Hanser, 2026) was published this summer. When asked for whom she wrote this book, Seyda Kurt replies: “For everyone who hopes, and for everyone who despairs.” Her debut novel explores the opportunities that lie in the collapse of existing orders. Intelligent, fierce, and full of courage, it is “a tribute to so many lives that have never been told” (Fatih Akin).
