Roter Otto

Red Otto" is a striking twelve-metre-high sculpture in Freiburg-Landwasser. The rotating figures react to the wind and give the work of art a dynamic presence in the cityscape.

Red Otto" is a large movable sculpture created by artist Eberhard Rau in 1973. The rotating upper bodies of the three figures - a couple with large saucer eyes and the square face of the Roman demigod Faunus - symbolize the change and closeness to nature of the district. The sculpture, whose name was chosen by the residents, was created as the winning project in a public art competition.
