Jan Liebermann (*2005) received his first piano lessons at the age of seven and began playing the organ at the age of twelve. He was a young student of Prof. Gerhard Gnann at the Mainz College of Music and of Prof. Carsten Wiebusch at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts. At the same time, he took piano lessons in the master class of Prof. Dr. Lev Natochenny. He is currently studying at the College of Music and Performing Arts Munich with Prof. Martin Sander.

Jan Liebermann is the first-prize winner of the 2024 Northern Ireland International Organ Competition, the first-prize winner at the national level in the solo organ category at the 2021 “Jugend musiziert” competition with the highest score, second-place winner of the 2023 Wuppertal International Organ Competition, and a prize winner of the “International Young Organist Competition Moscow” in 2020, the First Deidesheim International Organ Competition in 2020, and the Concours International d’Orgue de Dudelange in 2023. Furthermore, Jan is a recipient of a special award from the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben. He also received a scholarship from the Jürgen-Ponto-Stiftung Berlin in 2021. In the fall of 2025, he became the first organist since the award’s inception in 1998 to receive the Deutschlandfunk Promotion Prize, which was presented to him as part of the Bremen Music Festival.
His concert career has taken him to major centers of organ music, including the Berlin Philharmonie, Müpa Budapest, the Essen Philharmonie, Pisa Cathedral, Freiberg Cathedral, Paderborn Cathedral, Limburg Cathedral, Essen Cathedral, Münster Cathedral, Soest Cathedral, Freiburg Cathedral, and St. Michael’s Church in Hamburg. International concert tours have also taken him to England, where he has performed at York Minster, Westminster Abbey, Salisbury Cathedral, King’s College Cambridge, Liverpool Anglican Cathedral, Exeter Cathedral, Truro Cathedral, and Southwark Cathedral in London, among other venues.
In addition, Jan Liebermann has been a guest artist at numerous renowned organ festivals, including the “Dresden Music Festival,” “Musica Bayreuth,” the “Hamburg Organ Summer,” the “Erfurt International Organ Concerts,” the “International Hill Organ Days Berlin,” the “Victoria Hall Organ Proms” in Hanley, and the “Himmerod Organ Summer”. Furthermore, Jan Liebermann has been featured in the “Hörprobe” concert series on the radio station Deutschlandfunk Kultur and, due to his musical successes, has been profiled on radio stations (including BR-Klassik, SWR, hr2 Kultur, hr-info, radio3, Deutschlandfunk Kultur) as well as television programs (including rbb24 Abendschau and Landesschau Rheinland-Pfalz).
In the spring of 2024, Jan Liebermann caused a sensation in the organ world when he performed all six of Johann Sebastian Bach’s trio sonatas from memory at several public concerts. In recognition of his artistic achievements and dedication, he was subsequently awarded the 2024 Cultural Promotion Prize by the Rotary Club of Mainz. Just one year later, he devoted himself to performing all of Marcel Dupré’s Trois Préludes et Fugues, which he also presented from memory on multiple occasions in public concerts.

In 2025, Jan Liebermann performed several times at the Berlin Philharmonie. On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Schuke organ there, he made his acclaimed solo debut and performed in another concert with the Berlin Philharmonic’s principal flutist, Emmanuel Pahud. In addition, he performed on three evenings with the Berlin Philharmonic under the baton of Andris Nelsons.
