Simon Reichert is a versatile organist, conductor, and specialist in historically informed performance practice. As district cantor in Neustadt (Weinstraße), he leads the local Stiftskantorei and the vocal ensemble and serves as principal organist for the Edskes organ at the Stiftskirche. He is the artistic director of concert series and festivals and plays a key role in the city’s musical life. He also trains church organists and choir directors. In 2023, he was awarded the Neustadt Culture Prize in recognition of his contributions.
His repertoire spans all eras, including world premieres. In November 2023, he performed all of Dietrich Buxtehude’s solo works (organ and harpsichord) in a series of 10 concerts. As a recipient of the Grand Prix d’ECHO, he maintains an extensive concert schedule, most recently performing at major churches in Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Portugal, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, Poland, and Iceland.
He performs regularly with the Capricornus Ensemble Stuttgart and the ensemble 1800, and together with Wolf Matthias Friedrich, he founded the professional vocal ensemble Delectus Cantionum to research and revive the vocal works of Johann Caspar Kerll.
