Experiencing music together - Martha Argerich is the kind of pianist for whom new categories need to be invented. The power and artistry of the Argentinian, who also enchants with her stunning charisma at every stage of her life, constantly challenges new superlatives. At the same time, Martha Argerich resisted the circus surrounding her talent from childhood onwards. But the music world has adapted to this unconventional talent of the century and gratefully accepts whatever the tigress at the keys is prepared to give. For Martha Argerich, playing by her own rules means, among other things, that for a long time she has only made music with those people with whom she enjoys playing.

These include Jura Margulis, whose "titanic reserves of technique and sheer power" and "effortless spontaneity" (Washington Post) make him an internationally sought-after soloist. At the same time a renowned pedagogue, Margulis always finds time for his own transcriptions, which Freiburg audiences, who have been able to experience him in countless concerts, can also look forward to: An electrifying performance to experience Mussorgsky's "A Night on a Bare Mountain" shaped by these four pianist hands on two grand pianos! And yet, as Martha Argerich revealed in an interview with Concerti in 2024, neither the challenge nor perfection are the main focus for her: "I just want to play as well as I can and experience the music together with the audience." We're really looking forward to it!
