The Goethe-Institut Freiburg cordially invites you to a reading with the writer and doctor Jakob Leiner, who will present his latest publication "Ah, ein Herz, verstehe" on November 19 at 7 pm. The event will take place on the premises of the Goethe-Institut Freiburg, Wilhelmstraße 17.
Jakob Leiner, born in 1992, lives and works in Freiburg im Breisgau. He is not only an author, but also a doctor with an interdisciplinary background in music, literature and medicine. His new work "Ah, ein Herz, verstehe", published by Quintus-Verlag, combines precisely these spheres in an impressive way.
The anthology he has edited brings together poems by healers and the sick from five centuries - from the early modern period to the present day. With texts by 101 authors, a polyphonic kaleidoscope of mental and physical experiences opens up. The collection ranges from didactic poems to baroque lamentations and modern reflections on medical practice. Between Christian doctrines of salvation, romantic transfiguration and 20th century abstraction, humor as a health-promoting resource is not neglected.
Jakob Leiner himself was awarded the Deutschlandstipendium scholarship and was shortlisted for the Anna Haag Prize in 2023. He has also received a working scholarship from the Förderkreis der Schriftsteller*innen Baden-Württembergs.
We look forward to an inspiring evening at the interface of poetry and medicine and cordially invite you to enjoy a glass of wine and a chat with the author afterwards.
Admission is free.
