Frei Art Festival 2026: Meet. Create. Perform.
For one week, Freiburg will become a stage for international encounters: The Frei Art Festival 2026 brings together artists from around the world to explore, create, and venture into new territory.
The highlight of the program is the international co-production “City of the Future”—a dance project featuring artists from Europe, Africa, Asia, and the U.S. that explores new choreographic styles and forms of collaborative creation. Our French partners will also be joining us once again.
On the Open Stage, the regional dance scene meets international guests, while in the Future Labs, art is conceived as an open process—inviting everyone to contribute ideas and help shape the experience. The festival also features workshops, masterclasses, artist talks, the Outlier’s Dance Contest, the Kids Battle, performances in public spaces, and a vibrant family program.
Here, dance becomes a shared language—transcending generations, experiences, and cultural boundaries.
