In 2025, around 140 guest appearances in Germany, Austria and Switzerland will once again be on the tour schedule - including numerous cities where the show is performing for the first time. In addition, the 2025 tour will include other unforgettable melodies in the show program.
"Udo Jürgens was a free spirit in every respect. Musically, he moved carefree between pop hits, chanson, jazz and pop music," explains Gabriela Benesch. "In terms of content, he was committed to peace, freedom and, above all, love, and he wasn't afraid to take a stand."In addition to admiring Udo Jürgens as an entertainer, Gabriela Benesch has met the world-famous exceptional artist in person several times and says: "For me, Udo Jürgens is an ambassador for peace and even though he is no longer with us, his songs are incredibly moving and captivating. He always spoke out for human dignity and against envy, greed, megalomania and armed violence and campaigned for a peaceful and just world. Udo Jürgens was convinced that love would triumph. What remains - in keeping with his motto "I leave you everything" - are his unforgettable compositions, which are brought to life live in "The Udo Jürgens Story" and allow existing and future fans to immerse themselves in the life and world of the artist."
With 61 albums and over 400 singles in the charts, around 1,000 composed songs and more than 100 million records sold, he is one of the most successful solo artists in the world.
"It would actually take at least three, four or five evenings to pay tribute to his entire oeuvre," explains director Erich Furrer. "But our selection for one evening obviously strikes a chord with the audience. In 2025, we will still include one or two songs at selected events that have not yet been heard in the show. We want to use this experience to carefully develop our successful program and keep it young for at least another five years."
Vienna-born actress Gabriela Benesch came up with the idea for the show together with her husband, Swiss director, actor, author and producer Erich Furrer. With humor and great empathy, she tells stories and anecdotes from the great entertainer's personal notes. She takes the audience on a journey from Udo Jürgen's childhood to his old age, providing deep insights into his career and his work.
The narrative insights are accompanied musically by singer and pianist Alex Parker. It is not without reason that Parker is considered the best-known Udo Jürgens interpreter in the entire German-speaking world. Whether in Hamburg, Dresden, Munich, Berlin or Vienna - Alex Parker delights Udo Jürgens fans and aficionados alike with his wonderful voice and also accompanies himself on the piano in the style of Udo. In the style of his great idol, Parker knows how to create a unique, highly emotional atmosphere between himself and his audience. Udo Jürgens personally confirmed to the then 19-year-old Alex Parker just how close he is to the original when he heard him singing in a hotel lobby.
The director and producer is Erich Furrer, who was born in Vienna and grew up in Switzerland. Furrer studied at the College of Music and Theater in Bern/CH and has worked for many years as an actor, director, comedian, author and producer. He writes and produces musicals, has enjoyed success with new adaptations of Shakespeare's works and has won awards as an actor in numerous theater productions.
