20th Herdermer Christmas Market 2026
It never ceases to amaze me how, year after year, early on the first Saturday of Advent, the empty church square and the closed-off main street transform into a colorful Christmas market—only to disappear again by evening, once things have quieted down in Herdern.
The next market is coming up: As usual, on the first weekend of Advent—November 28, 2026—from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., around the church square in Herdern. We invite everyone to come to Herdern!
PROGRAM:
2:00 p.m. Opening—come and enjoy!
Around 5:00 p.m. (+/-): St. Nicholas is coming and bringing something for everyone!
8:00 p.m. Closing – finish your drinks, pack up, and look forward to Christmas…
A colorful mix of handmade crafts, delicious food and drinks—including, of course, the ever-popular mulled wine—as well as many other offerings, ranging from arts and crafts to all sorts of Christmas goods, awaits visitors. Most of the vendors are clubs, schools, and kindergartens, as well as other nonprofit organizations from the neighborhood—we’re proud to be able to organize a Christmas market in Herdern by the community, for the community.
The Herdern Christmas Market is the largest neighborhood Christmas market in Freiburg, and we hope it will once again attract large crowds this year—people who want to spend an afternoon strolling, browsing, and enjoying the festivities. The Herdern-Neuburg Citizens’ Association traditionally donates the proceeds from mulled wine sales to a local organization in the neighborhood.
