Veto principle

Time and again, we find ourselves caught between two seemingly contradictory needs: We want to act freely and self-determined and at the same time belong and be connected. We long for genuine closeness to others without losing ourselves. And we realize that: It's not that easy. Because we often don't even realize how much we are losing ourselves in this area of tension. We don't say anything in a team meeting even though something is bothering us - for fear of being seen as difficult. We take on tasks that overtax us because we want to be needed. And over time, we lose touch with what we really want. In this workshop, we make such unconscious coping strategies visible. We will explore how resistance can be an expression of integrity and how genuine closeness can arise from it: When we show ourselves as we are instead of functioning. In various game arrangements and with the help of the democratic leadership jokers, we will not only confront these questions in our heads, but also make them tangible. Joyfully, clearly and with the courage to reshape ourselves - beyond what we have learned to be.

Course leader: Jessen, Pascal. Pascal Jessen is a veto trainer, teacher at a free democratic school and lives in Freiburg. He has been working with the Veto-Principle® for many years and combines it with theater pedagogy, educational work with children, young people and adults as well as equal relationships. His focus is on the question of how existing pedagogical spaces with diverse groups can be further developed in a cooperative and relationship-oriented manner.
