An exhibition inspired by the journey to Italy of the great poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe - reinterpreted in a pop-cultural way. Along his route, a contemporary visual narrative is created that combines literature, places and soccer culture. From Bolzano via Rome to Naples and Sicily: each stop brings Goethe's view of Italy into a dialog with the emotional and cultural identity of local soccer.
The result is a narrative cartography in which literary and sporting geographies overlap. The exhibition will be shown during the 2026 FIFA World Cup and is also a tribute to soccer as a cultural and narrative phenomenon.
A project by Mo' Better Football, an Italian cultural collective that combines sport and narration.
The vernissage will take place on June 10 at the Goethe Institut Freiburg. Look forward to a special evening and get into conversation with the artists themselves over a drink afterwards.
The exhibition is accessible during the opening hours of the Goethe-Institut Freiburg from June 10 to July 17 at Wilhelmstraße 17.
