Throughout the city, public drinking water fountains invite you to tap Freiburg's fresh tap water free of charge. They are a contribution to sustainable infrastructure and offer welcome refreshment in the city, especially on hot days.
The public drinking water fountains and drinking water columns provide high-quality tap water free of charge and help to reduce single-use plastic. Spread across the entire city area - from the city center to the districts - they offer uncomplicated access to clean drinking water.
Especially on hot summer days, the fountains make an important contribution to the quality of life in public spaces and support climate-adapted urban development.
The water quality of the drinking fountains and drinking water steles is monitored regularly. To prevent freezing, the fountains/stands are turned off or dismantled in winter and reconnected in spring.
