"Learning About Sustainability" Conference
Education is internationally recognized as the key to sustainable development. However, there is still a significant gap between knowledge and action. After all, knowledge alone does not change behavior.
As part of the “Learning Sustainability” conference, we will work together to find new answers and approaches in educational work—with experts from academia and the field, and with the courage to question established ways of thinking—as organizations that are themselves undergoing change.
Research question:
How do we stick together and move forward—at a time when sustainability and democracy are coming under increasing pressure?
How do we create learning spaces where people truly help shape the process? How can learners be more deeply involved as active shapers in educational processes?
Which methods of reflection and shifting perspectives are particularly suitable?
What perspectives on education exist that are not based on Western educational systems?
Out-of-school educational work has a particular strength here: We can work closely with people’s lived experiences and create space for reflection and participation.
What matters most here is not so much the mere transfer of knowledge as the ability to rethink and reclassify central concepts such as responsibility, prosperity, participation, justice, and freedom in the context of climate change, environmental crises, and social crises.
Focus for participants: knowledge exchange, professional development, and strategic orientation toward transformative education for sustainable development.
