The Upper Hotzenwald around the villages of Ibach and Urberg is characterized by extensive, species-rich pastures, structurally rich forests and natural moors. The tour (10 km, 300 m elevation gain) leads from Wittenschwand via the Horbacher Moor nature reserve via Rüttewies and Urberg back to the Horbacher Klosterweiher (refreshments at the Klosterweiherhof, self-pay) and Wittenschwand. Along the way, there is information about the Black Forest biosphere reserve, pasture use, renaturation of the moors, lichen vegetation, forest management and the history of the Hotzenwald.
