Mulhouse and Strasbourg were already taken by French and American troops in November 1944 - only 60 kilometers separated the two French generals de Lattre de Tassigny and Leclerc with their units. Why did they not move towards each other? How was the German bridgehead around Colmar able to establish itself, which went down in history as the "Poche de Colmar" with thousands of fallen soldiers?
