Schlossbergbahn (castle hill funicular)

In just three minutes, the Schlossbergbahn (castle hill funicular) takes you from Freiburg's Stadtgarten to the 456-meter-high mountain of the same name, the western side of which is already part of the Black Forest.

If you want to enjoy a bit of nature or the sunset with a view of the city after a tour of Freiburg, the rail-bound train takes you from the city center to the attractive local recreation area on the Schlossberg (castle hill). The Schlossbergbahn (castle hill funicular) carries up to 25 people in its cabin. The train runs on demand and can be operated, i.e. requested and started, by the passengers themselves. There are therefore no fixed departure times. The journey time for one route is approx. 3:15 minutes.

Brief information on accessibility: The Schlossbergbahn (castle hill funicular) is suitable for wheelchairs and baby carriages.
