Schlossbergbahn (castle hill funicular)
In just three minutes, the Schlossbergbahn takes you from Freiburg's Stadtgarten to the 456-metre-high mountain of the same name, the western side of which is already part of the Black Forest.
If you want to enjoy a bit of nature or the sunset with a view of the city after a tour of Freiburg, you can take the rail-bound train from the city center to the attractive local recreation area on the Schlossberg. The Schlossbergbahn transports up to 25 people in its cabin. The train runs on demand and can be operated, i.e. requested and started, by the passengers themselves. There are therefore no fixed departure times. The journey time for one route is approx. 3:15 minutes.
