Overheard - Overlooked (ABO 3)
Our concept of music doesn’t end with the ear. Sound arises from the interplay of perception, gesture, image, and imagination—what we see influences what we hear. Following our first REINGELAUSCHT concert last season, we’re now shifting our focus to the visual.
When does something shift from the visual to the acoustic? When does a symbol become sound? For centuries, composers have been experimenting with expanded forms of notation—not as illustration, but as an independent musical practice. In REINGELAUSCHT – REINGESCHAUT, we explore four such approaches.
Join us in exploring connections between the visual and the acoustic, develop your own graphic scores—and experience their immediate musical realization. Here, music emerges at thresholds: where an image shifts, a symbol becomes uncertain—and sound begins.
