The international order is undergoing the most profound change since the end of the Cold War. At its center is the geopolitical triad between China, the USA and Russia, which is restructuring conflicts, alliances and economic dependencies worldwide. The course sheds light on the emergence of a "new world order" in which China is increasingly acting as the main global player - economically, technologically and in terms of security policy. Particular attention will be paid to the growing dualism between China and the USA, which manifests itself in trade wars, technological conflicts, military strategies and reciprocal customs measures. We will analyze how China protects itself from US tariffs, what industrial policy instruments are behind this and what impact this has on Europe. We also look at Russia's role in the Ukraine war and how it influences the geopolitical balance. Another focus is China's advantages in the field of rare earths - a strategic bargaining chip in the global high-tech industry. The course is aimed at anyone who wants to understand how a possible "East-West conflict 2.0" is developing and what consequences this has for Europe, global markets and international security policy. - Registration required.
