Orlando. A copy without an original
Orlando is born a man in the Elizabethan era and eventually becomes a woman around the age of 30. Virginia Woolf’s novel offers us a glimpse into an existence beyond the boundaries imposed on us by the binary gender system. Ensemble member Hale Richter and director Yeşim Nela Keim Schaub are inspired, moved, and captivated by the fluid, untamed character that Virginia Woolf brought to life in *Orlando*. In the ballet studio and in the intimacy of Freiburg residents’ living rooms, they perform, act out, and reimagine Orlando in the present day.
