At age 21, Valentin Macke sets out with no return ticket and no plan. For over two years, he hitchhiked eastward—through Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, the Middle East, all the way to India and Myanmar. Then he rode a folding bike back from Pakistan through Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, and Russia. The adventure takes him from jungles and deserts to high mountains over 6,000 meters.
