The German pianist Michael Wollny and the French soprano saxophonist Emile Parisien are brothers in spirit. Both are undoubtedly regarded as style-defining representatives of their instruments - in jazz and far beyond its borders. Both succeed in creating new, unexpected events from the most diverse musical influences, from jazz on this and the other side of the Atlantic, classical music, pop, new music, avant-garde and mainstream. And both of them are masters of the moment, they know how to engage with their counterparts in the most sensitive way and to create unheard music in exchange with them. Wollny and Parisien have known each other for a long time and the range of their joint projects to date is as broad as their musical spectrum. These range from the quartet "Out of Land" together with singer Andreas Schaerer and accordionist Vincent Peirani, to the internationally acclaimed, completely free, electro-acoustic project "XXXX" together with drummer Christian Lillinger and bassist Tim Lefebvre, to sensational special projects such as Wollny's "Bau.Haus.Klang" on the occasion of 100 years of the legendary design school and collaborations between Emile Parisien and Michael Wollny's trio. And so it was probably only a matter of time before Wollny and Parisien turned to a joint duo - probably the most intimate, open and at the same time perhaps the most challenging format of musical interaction. A whole cosmos of influences, ideas and inspirations. And a masterful dialog between two unique figures of European jazz.
