MARION & SOBO BAND
The German-French-Polish quartet creates its own style blending world music and vocal jazz, proving that handmade, acoustic music can be not only delicate, contemplative, and rich in color, but also highly energetic and powerful—even without drums. The multilingual French singer Marion Lenfant-Preus and the Polish guitarist Alexander “Sobo” Sobocinski have been working together for 15 years to create music that defies genre labels and appeals to an audience spanning generations and cultures. And they do so with plenty of charm, humor, lightness, and a joy for playing! The Marion & Sobo Band offers a stylistically diverse sound with songs in French, Spanish, English, German, and Romani, featuring acrobatic solos on guitar and violin, groovy double bass, scat singing, their own compositions, and fresh interpretations of old swing and Balkan classics that the band “transforms into the here and now” (Jazzpodium).
