Johann Peter Hebel (1760-1826) is regarded today as the most important Alemannic dialect poet. His poem "Die Vergänglichkeit" (Transience), written in 1803, was set to music by the Basel composer Thüring Bräm, who later became director of the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts.
Bass-baritone Hanno Müller-Brachmann, who comes from Lörrach, will perform the cycle in dialect on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at 8 pm together with Franz Schubert's "Schwanengesang" at our first evening of the season. He will be accompanied on the piano by Guido Heinke.
