Birgit Weyhe will be reading from her graphic novel "Schweigen" (Silence) at the LeseLounge in the Augustian museum. In it, she tells a little-known chapter of German-Argentinean history: Ellen Marx fled from the National Socialists to Buenos Aires in 1939. 30 years later, Elisabeth Käsemann came to Argentina as a politically engaged student, where she - like Ellen's daughter Nora - became a victim of the military dictatorship. The Federal Foreign Office remained silent due to economic interests and the planned soccer World Cup. Weyhe counters the silence and forgetting with impressive images. The reading is part of the "Compass: 8 Visions" series of the Literaturhaus Freiburg and is being held in cooperation with the Documentation Center for National Socialism. It is supported by the Baden-Württemberg Foundation as part of the Literature Summer 2026. Participation costs 10 euros, concessions 8 euros. Tickets are available in the online store. The meeting point is the Freundeskreis-Auditorium in the Augustian museum.
