Lawrence Fields Supersonic Trio - Live 2027

Ever since New York pianist Lawrence Fields released his debut album *To The Surface* in 2024—which *DownBeat* awarded four stars and named one of the best albums of the year—his career as a bandleader has taken off at a rapid pace. Now he is embarking on his fifth European tour with his spectacular Supersonic Trio, which kicks off in London for the first time.
Lawrence Fields is not only an exceptional pianist and master of various keyboard instruments —he has consistently ranked among the top musicians in magazine polls for years—but his ability to combine memorable melodies with sophisticated harmonies has already earned him a unique place among the many talented instrumentalists on today’s jazz scene.
His debut album with the Supersonic Trio—a group he has honed over the years through regular live performances in New York City with top-tier musicians—features sessions with friends from Butcher Brown, bassist Andrew Randazzo, and his favorite drummer, Corey Fonville; special guest and Grammy winner Nate Smith; as well as his touring bandmates Kyle Miles and Elé Howell. Miles has developed an electric bass style that avoids common clichés; Oscillating between a solid bass foundation and expansive, atmospheric soundscapes—and capable of enriching the timbres of both a grand piano and a Fender Rhodes—he contributes significantly to the band’s harmonic sound. Elé Howell is one of the most accomplished young drummers on the scene and an exceptional talent who is sought after by greats such as Ravi Coltrane and Gary Bartz for their bands.
With the Supersonic Trio, Fields expands his profile as a musician rooted in the jazz-piano tradition to include the sounds of his youth: soul-jazz, funk, and hip-hop. In doing so, he follows in the footsteps of Ramsey Lewis, Les McCann, George Duke, Joe Zawinul, Herbie Hancock, and Geri Allen—artists who all stand out for their immense musical openness and range.
