Classical music - plucked, not bowed
On Sunday, April 26 at 6 p.m., a very special concert will take place in Freiburg's Church of Peace (Hirzbergstraße 1). The Badische Zupforchester (BZO), which has been a state orchestra of the Bund Deutscher Zupfmusiker for 55 years, will present original compositions and arrangements of suitable works from past eras. Kurt Schwaen's "Abendmusik" is a true classic of the genre on the program. And Christopher Grafschmidt's "Schnipseljagd" also has to do with classics, as it consists exclusively of quotations. Another classic, albeit from the string literature, is Gustav Holst's "St. Paul's Suite", which is also suitable for plucked instruments. To make the whole thing even more colorful, two soloists will be taking part, one of whom is also the conductor: Jan-Paul Reinke, a lecturer in orchestral conducting at the Freiburg University of Music, will demonstrate his pianistic skills in a piano concerto by the Mannheim Kapellmeister Abbé Vogler. And last but not least, the BZO will form an unusual alliance with bassoonist Desiree Brechter for the world premiere of another composition by Christopher Grafschmidt: "Der Wandler".
