CD release concert
Anno Schreier: Soundscapes (songs and chamber music)
The German composer Anno Schreier has lived in Freiburg since 2021. He is one of the most sought-after German opera composers of his generation. His music theater works have premiered at many important venues, including the Zurich Opera, the Theater an der Wien and, most recently, the Staatstheater Nürnberg.
Last year, he recorded his first CD entitled "Klanglandschaften", which will be released at the end of April: the Holst Sinfonietta is now organizing a CD release concert together with the Opera Factory Freiburg.
Soloists from the Holst Sinfonietta will perform chamber music works by Schreier from the last 19 years. The internationally renowned soprano Katharina Ruckgaber, a former ensemble member at Theater Freiburg, will take this opportunity to perform some of Anno Schreier's highly enjoyable, cheerfully ironic Morgensternlieder together with Klaus Simon (piano).
Anno Schreier's music is very accessible, musical and far removed from "new music". On the contrary: the more recent works make open reference to minimal music and elements of rock and pop music, but without running the risk of being "pleasing". Program:
Anno Schreier (*1979):
Zehn Lieder nach Gedichten von Christian Morgenstern (2021) for soprano and piano
Three Landscape Pictures (2007) for violoncello solo
Landschaft im Schnee (2020) Three studies for flute, viola and violoncello
Four Turing tests (2020) for two violas
Two studies on a landscape (2019) for violoncello and piano
Soprano: Katharina Ruckgaber
Soloists of the Holst Sinfonietta
Flute: Sara Vázquez
Viola: Katharina Schmauder
Viola: Cornelius Bauer
Violoncello: Philipp Schiemenz
Piano: Klaus Simon
