AI – Home Alone
Gesa, Michael, and Bene actually want to perform their new Christmas play, but things don’t go as planned. The three of them shake the door to their dressing room, but it’s locked tight. The situation is serious, because the performance should have started long ago. And as panic grows in the cramped space, a terrifying suspicion arises: Could it be that an AI has taken control of the performance? In their attempt to save the show, things spiral completely out of control… Blending Christmas magic, mystery, slapstick, and science fiction, this turbulent comedy explores what it means to be human in the age of artificial intelligence. The play asks what happens when our surroundings are smarter than we are: How does it feel to suddenly no longer be allowed to play a part? And what drives an AI when it’s home all alone? This pre-programmed chaos in five acts was brought to the stage by the team at Theater Freiburg that most recently produced plays such as *Oz*, *Frankenstein*, and *The Metamorphosis—Kafka for Everyone *.
