Cole Porter is one of the most influential composers of the 20th century. What keeps his songs alive to this day as part of the Great American Songbook is not only their melodic clarity, but above all his lyrics: incisive, witty, often humorous, and at the same time marked by unexpected tenderness. Whether a love song or a farewell, Porter’s lyrics continue to resonate across generations to this day. “It’s De-Lovely” is a recital dedicated to the music and lyrics of Cole Porter. Brandy Butler, a member of the Theater Freiburg ensemble, performs the songs alongside guitarist Dani Solimine and saxophonist Daniel Küfer. In an intimate setting, Porter’s songs are complemented by brief spoken insights into his life and work.
