Prince Hamlet must act: The kingdom as he knows it is falling apart. His father, the king, is dead. Perhaps murdered by his own brother Claudius. As soon as the old king is buried, Claudius marries Hamlet's mother and now sits on the throne. Hamlet is lonely in his own home and no longer knows who he can trust. So what to do? And with whom? With the help of a theater group that comes to court, he tries out many roles in his search for truth - including that of the madman. A game of appearance and reality begins, in which madness and reason, role and reality become inextricably intertwined. In her first directorial work, actress Julia Riedler shows a common struggle for truth: here, everyone - Hamlet, Ophelia, Laertes and the royal couple - is playing at pretending to the others, but also to themselves. They are all actors in a drama that they do not fully understand. Can they still influence its outcome? Do they blindly follow the story, or do they find their way to freedom in the play?
